New Flex Forward recycling pilot program

All The Best has teamed up with Earth Animal (the maker of the beloved No-Hide chews, among other products), the Pet Sustainability Coalition, and Pet Food Express in a new pilot program aimed at reducing the estimated 300 million pounds of plastic pet food packaging that goes to landfills each year.

Most pet food and treat bags are made from multiple layers of different kinds of plastic so they are unacceptable to the majority of recycling centers around the country. The Flex Forward program will recycle and upcycle clean plastic pet food and treat packaging. The collected flexible packaging will be ground into pellets to be reused by the plastics industry for a variety of purposes. Some of the recycled packaging will be used to manufacture new test pet products, including crates, toys, and litter boxes.

All you have to do is bring these items into any All The Best store and put them in the Flex Foward bin. All types of flexible plastic bags (regardless of brand) and pouches used for pet products are accepted. Flex Forward plastic recycling does not include paper bags, cans, or boxes. However, these items are recyclable through most local municipal recycling programs.

We share our customers’ commitment to sustainability. Your participation will help make the campaign a success and may be pivotal in establishing a larger, national Flex Forward recycling program. The ultimate goal is to create a fully closed-loop recycling solution for plastic pet packaging, preventing plastic packaging from ending up in landfills and instead, using it to produce new products.
